International: Eyeing a Boon in Indonesia

Mediababy, the operating conglomerate of social media's most popular Gen Z-led brands, is continuing its expansion into the Asian continent. Utilizing 4 years of experience in youth media production and talented young editors from all around the world, Mediababy will start a branch dedicated entirely to Indonesian youth.

Indonesia has a growing youth population. About 65 million people — or 28% of the population — are aged between 10 to 24, according to United Nations Population Fund. In the past half decade, social media platforms have been key to the new generation of activist Indonesia youth, such as those who came out during the 2019 and 2020 mass protests. TikTok has solidified as a 'battleground' for politics. As of late July 2024, the country is already a major audience of Mediababy content — 10%, which is only exceed by the United States of America and the United Kingdom.

Mediababy's brands on social media attract over 1 billion views per month. Mediababy, however, was founded not only to entertain millions but also to provide opportunities for youth around the world to shape the future of media. The company has thus selected 5 teenagers in Indonesia to help extend this goal by maintaining our commitment to delivering exceptional video content as well as innovative advertising options for brands.

As part of the expansion, Mediababy will acquire several Indonesian youth-led social media channels — including those that focus on long-form video content.

"The business model we are building — which takes significant cost out of business and technology expenses — will empower us to begin investing heavily in long-form production. Mediababy will spend a ton on long-form in the years to come," says Sheena Holcomb, Chief Operating Officer.
